My First Zoo Visit

Today I went to the zoo for the first time. I must say I rather enjoy just being able to sit back and relax and watch all the people while I am pushed around in my stroller.... isn't being a baby great! So we saw lions and tigers and bears, OH MY.... but more than anything I just enjoyed being outside on a nice day and watching all the other people at the zoo.

So the big people decide that it would be a good idea to get something to eat, and you know what I got.... nothing! My response to this detestful display of selfishness can be summed up in this picture.

Even though I was a bit miffed that I could not partake in the cheeseburger and onion ring feast that everyone else seemed to thoroughly enjoy, I took it all in stride and was rewarded with pieces of a chocolate chip cookie. Now most things I attempt to eat end up mostly on my person, whatever I am sitting in or on, or within a five foot radius of my current location. Yes I am a messy eater, but I digress. Now this whole cookie thing was another matter all together. Not only did I not spit out, throw, shoot, or otherwise propel the cookie pieces in any way, I came to the conclusion that they were pretty good and that I wanted more.

After the cookies were consumed, I was forced to pose for pictures with my sister, which of course I wasn't to thrilled with but when you can't crawl there is little you can do but give dirty looks to the camera and wait to be put back in the stroller. Eventually I decided I had done enough for the day and just passed out in the stroller, face first into my tray. Thus ended my first trip to the zoo.

You Be The Judge

For quite some time now, my dad has been telling me I look like Winston Churchill and I don't see the resemblance... do you?

Well well, it has been a while hasn't it? Where to begin as so much has changed with me. I am now 8 months old, and am still growing like mad. I have developed a certain fondness for crackers which most adults are not easily able to understand.

My dad decided to give me a club cracker one night at Mazzio's and to be honest with you, the rest of what you might call solid food can just take a hike, I will be just dandy with crackers.
Now you might think that the variety of crackers is limited, however I would beg to differ. While I drool all the time, my drooling issue is exponentially worse when visiting the cracker isle at the local wal-mart. There are simply so many choices I just want to have them all. Sadly, Mom and Dad cannot afford to purchase a box of every type of crackers known to man so I have to start of small. So far my favorites are graham crackers and club cracker (with or without ranch dressing, it makes me no difference).

I have tried my first birthday cake, although it was not my birthday, it was still pretty good cake, and have determined that I generally detest all foods which could be identified as "baby food". While this has perplexed my doctor and my parents, they simply do not understand my likes and dislikes yet, and sadly my spoken vocabulary only consists of three syllables which makes communication somewhat hard on the adults. I especially enjoy screaming at the top of my lungs and watching them try to decide amongst themselves what it is I must want, and then scurry about once they have figured out that their best guess wasn't right.... it's good to be a baby sometimes!

My new found fondness for baked goods, has come to me along with a mostly full set of front teeth. Daddy says I look like a piranha because my teeth are so small and sharp, and I just love to bite down on anything that is put in my mouth, fingers are a rare but special treat for me and the adults howling in pain during this sweetens the deal for me as I find it very asmusing.
I am not yet able to crawl but I can roll over better than the most well trained dog. If I could just determine how to get my stomach off the ground and my knees under me I am certain that I could crawl but the skill currently eludes me.

No worries though, I am practicing my leg movements at all times by kicking anything and everything that comes near me, including but not limited to furniture, people, the dog, the cat, and a myriad of other inamimate objects.

My final trick is now my new found ability to make what some might consider a crude sound using my tounge and my mouth. I like nothing better than to have a mouthful of crackers or sweet potatoes, and perform this stunt, thereby spewing partially chewed food all over whoever the lucky person is in front of me, as well as myself, and the surrounding area.

I no longer like to lay down, I prefer to be sitting in my carrier or down on the floor where I can roll myself into a spot which I am either hopelessly stuck in or where I can reach an animal so I can pull on their tails/ears/feet/fur which I am certain they enjoy at least as much as I do. I am not quite sure yet why these sessions using end with them yelping and running off but I am sure I will learn at some point.
